About This Privacy Policy

Privacy policy note: This policy is provided for general information and should be reviewed by a qualified attorney before launch.

This privacy policy describes how Custom Carts (“Custom Carts,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit customcarts.com, contact us, or buy a new or used golf cart from us. We are a golf cart dealer serving Northeast Ohio, and we wrote this privacy policy to be easy to read rather than full of legal jargon.

Buying a golf cart is different from buying a phone case online. Carts are large vehicles, so most orders are confirmed by phone, a deposit may be taken online, and delivery or pickup is scheduled after the sale. That process means we collect a little more information than a typical web store, and this privacy policy tells you exactly what that information is and why we need it.

Who we are

The business responsible for your information is Custom Carts, [Business address to be added], Northeast Ohio. You can reach us by phone at (330) 752-8570 or by email at info@customcarts.com. Automated order and account emails come from no-reply@customcarts.com, which is not monitored, so please send questions to our main inbox instead.

What this privacy policy covers

This privacy policy applies to information we collect through our website, our online store powered by WooCommerce, phone calls, text messages, emails, social media messages, and in-person visits or deliveries. It does not cover websites or services run by other companies, such as payment processors, financing lenders, or manufacturer websites, even if we link to them. Those companies have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to read them.

By using our website or doing business with us, you acknowledge that you have read this privacy policy. Please also review our Terms and Conditions, which govern purchases, deposits, and use of the site.

Information We Collect

We try to collect only what we need to answer your questions, sell you a golf cart, deliver it, and support you afterward. This privacy policy sorts that information into three groups: information you give us, information collected automatically, and information we receive from partners.

Information you give us

  • Contact details: your name, phone number, email address, and mailing or delivery address.
  • Order details: the cart or accessories you are interested in, options you choose, trade-in information, and notes about your order.
  • Account details: if you create an account in our store, your username, password (stored in encrypted form), and order history.
  • Delivery details: your address, gate codes or access notes, preferred dates, and who will be present to accept the cart.
  • Vehicle paperwork: for titled or street-legal carts, the information needed to complete a bill of sale, title, or registration paperwork, which may include information from your driver’s license.
  • Messages: anything you write to us through contact forms, email, text, or social media.

Information collected automatically

When you browse our site, our server and WooCommerce automatically record some technical data. This can include your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, the page that referred you, and the date and time of your visit. Cookies also remember items in your cart and keep you signed in. We explain cookies in more detail further down this privacy policy.

Information from third parties

If you apply for financing, the lender may tell us whether you were approved and the general terms offered, so we can complete your purchase. Payment processors tell us whether a payment succeeded and may share the last four digits of your card. Delivery partners may send us confirmation that a cart was delivered. We do not buy personal information from data brokers, and this privacy policy does not allow us to.

Information we do not want

For your protection, our privacy policy asks that you do not send full card numbers, bank account numbers, or Social Security numbers by email, text, or contact form. We never need that kind of information sent to us through those channels. If a lender needs sensitive details for a credit application, you will provide them directly to the lender through its own secure system.

How We Use Your Information

We use personal information for ordinary business purposes connected to selling and supporting golf carts. Under this privacy policy, those purposes include:

  • Answering questions about inventory, pricing, and availability.
  • Confirming your order by phone and processing any online deposit.
  • Arranging delivery or pickup and preparing sales and title paperwork.
  • Helping you apply for financing through our third-party lenders.
  • Sending order confirmations, receipts, and delivery updates.
  • Handling warranty questions, service requests, returns, and refunds.
  • Protecting our customers and our business from fraud.
  • Improving our website, product listings, and customer service.
  • Meeting our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

With your permission, we may also send occasional news about new arrivals or current offers. You can opt out of those messages at any time, and doing so will not affect messages about an order you have already placed.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Our store needs a few of them to work properly, and this section of our privacy policy explains which ones we use and how you can control them.

TypeWhat it doesCan you turn it off?
Essential store cookiesWooCommerce uses these to remember your cart, keep you logged in, and complete checkout securely. Not without breaking checkout.
Preference cookiesRemember choices such as recently viewed carts or a dismissed notice.Yes, through your browser settings.
Security cookiesHelp detect spam, bots, and fraudulent orders.Generally no, because they protect the site.
Analytics cookiesNot currently used. We may add a traffic analytics tool in the future to see which pages are helpful.Yes. We will update this privacy policy and offer controls if we add them.

Analytics in the future

We may later add an analytics service to understand how visitors use our site, such as which cart listings are viewed most. If we do, we will update this privacy policy to name the service, describe what it collects, and explain how to opt out. Analytics data is used in summary form to improve the site, not to identify you personally.

Managing cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. If you block essential cookies, you can still browse our golf carts, but the shopping cart and checkout may not work. You can always call us at (330) 752-8570 to place an order by phone instead.

Do Not Track signals

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common industry standard for responding to these signals, so our site does not currently change its behavior when it receives one. We do not track you across other companies’ websites for advertising.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent our customer list to anyone. We share information only when it is needed to complete your purchase or run our business, and only with parties who have a reason to receive it. This privacy policy lists those parties below.

  • Payment processors: companies that securely handle card payments and deposits. They receive the details needed to complete a transaction.
  • Financing lenders: if you choose to apply, the third-party lender receives your application directly and may share the decision with us.
  • Delivery and transport partners: if we use an outside hauler, they receive your name, phone number, and delivery address.
  • Service providers: our web host, email provider, and WooCommerce plugins that help run the store, all limited to what they need to perform their service.
  • Manufacturers: for new carts, we may register the warranty with the manufacturer in your name so you receive coverage and safety notices.
  • Government agencies: for titled or street-legal carts, we share the information required for title and registration paperwork, such as with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
  • Legal and safety reasons: when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our customers, staff, or business.
  • Business transfers: if Custom Carts is sold or merged, customer records may transfer to the new owner, who must respect this privacy policy.

Anyone we share information with under this privacy policy is expected to protect it and use it only for the purpose we shared it for. We do not allow our service providers to use your information for their own marketing.

Payments, Deposits and Financing Data

Many customers place a deposit online to hold a cart while we confirm the order by phone. Under this privacy policy, payments are handled by third-party payment processors, not by our own servers. When you pay, your full card number goes directly to the processor over an encrypted connection, and we never see or store it. We receive only a confirmation, the amount, and limited details such as the card type and last four digits.

Financing works the same way. Financing is offered through third-party lenders with approved credit, and you apply directly with the lender. The lender’s own privacy policy governs how it uses your credit application and credit report. We only receive what we need to finish the sale, such as the approval status and the amount financed. Learn more on our financing page.

If a deposit is refunded, the refund is sent back through the same processor to the original payment method. Our return policy explains deposit and refund timing.

Emails, Calls and Text Messages

Because carts are large purchases, we talk with most customers by phone before an order is final. This part of our privacy policy explains the different kinds of messages you may receive.

Transactional messages

When you place an order or deposit, WooCommerce sends automated emails from no-reply@customcarts.com, such as order confirmations, receipts, and status updates. These messages are part of your purchase, so you cannot opt out of them while an order is active. Replies to the no-reply address are not read, so please write to info@customcarts.com instead.

Phone calls and texts

If you give us your phone number, we may call or text you about your inquiry, your order, delivery scheduling, or paperwork. Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply. You can ask us to stop texting you at any time by replying STOP or telling us on a call.

Marketing messages

Our privacy policy is clear that we only send promotional emails or texts if you have asked to receive them or if the law otherwise allows it. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Opting out of marketing does not stop order-related messages.

Data Retention and Security

How long we keep information

Our privacy policy is simple on retention: we keep personal information only as long as we reasonably need it. Sales records, bills of sale, and title paperwork are kept for as long as tax, accounting, and vehicle-sales laws require, which is often several years. Warranty records are kept for the length of the warranty. General inquiries that never became a sale are deleted or anonymized once they are no longer useful, usually within a few years.

How we protect information

As part of this privacy policy, we use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. Our site uses an encrypted HTTPS connection, card data is handled by payment processors, access to customer records is limited to people who need it, and paper documents are stored securely. We keep WordPress, WooCommerce, and plugins updated to reduce security risks.

No website or storage method is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and any required authorities as required by Ohio law and other applicable law.

What you can do

Use a strong, unique password for your store account, sign out on shared devices, and be cautious about emails that claim to be from us but ask for payment details. We will never ask for your full card number by email or text. If something seems off, call us at (330) 752-8570 before you act.

Your Privacy Choices and Rights

You stay in control of your information. Under this privacy policy, you can ask us to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is wrong or out of date.
  • Delete information we no longer need, subject to legal record-keeping requirements.
  • Opt out of marketing emails and texts.
  • Close your online store account.

To make a request, email info@customcarts.com or call (330) 752-8570. As this privacy policy requires, we may ask you to confirm your identity before we act, so we do not give your information to the wrong person. We aim to respond within 30 days. We will never treat you differently for exercising your privacy choices.

Some states give their residents additional privacy rights. If you live outside Ohio and a law in your state applies to us, we will honor the rights that law provides in addition to this privacy policy. General consumer privacy information is available from the Federal Trade Commission.

Children’s privacy

Our website and golf carts are sold to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and you must be at least 18 to place an order. If you believe a child has sent us personal information in violation of this privacy policy, contact us and we will delete it.

Our site links to manufacturer websites, lenders, government agencies, and social media pages. When you click one of those links, you leave our site, and this privacy policy no longer applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites.

Social media

If you interact with us on Facebook or another platform, that platform’s own privacy policy governs what it collects. We only see what the platform shows us, such as your public profile name and the messages you send us.

Updates to this privacy policy

We may update this privacy policy as our business grows, for example when we add analytics, open a physical showroom, or change service providers. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page. If a change is significant, we will post a notice on the site or email customers with active accounts.

Your continued use of the site after an update means the revised privacy policy applies going forward. Older orders remain covered by the version in effect at the time, unless the law requires otherwise.

Governing law

This privacy policy is governed by the laws of the State of Ohio and applicable United States federal law.

Last updated: 2026.
